MSTA Conference is an annual event that aims to gather State Aircraft Operators (SAO) and all parties involved in the management of engineering, maintenance and training of aircraft maintenance, aeronautical products and aircraft-related equipment.

This year, State Aircraft Operators (SAO) and Malaysian Defence Industry representatives came together in Hotel Bayview Resort, Batu Feringghi, Pulau Pinang for MSTA Conference Series 17/2022, which was kick starts on October 19th, 2022.

MSTA Series 17/2022 brought together more than 140 participants. The three-day event creates a unique platform to share experiences and discuss current issues related to technical airworthiness. The conference also served as a platform for DGTA to share information with members present on the improvements to the Technical Airworthiness Management.

Brig Gen Ir Nordin bin Abdul Ghani RMAF officiated the conference by delivered his opening address.

The highlight of day one was Professional Talks on ‘Enhancing Local Defence Industry Capacity While Observing Airworthiness Requirement’ by Professor Dr. Azmi bin Hassan and ‘How To Maintain A Good Relationship Between Aviation Contractor And State Aircraft Operator (SAO)’ by Brig Gen Dato’ Mohamed Zahari bin Dato’ Hj Yahya RMAF.

Activities on the day included a presentation on ‘DGTA Annual Report and Audit Analysis for the Year 2022’ by Lt Cdr Mohd Zulharris Fikri bin Ishak RMN and Maj Ashraf bin Mohammad Radzi RMAF

The first day of the conference ended with a presentation from Mr Yusree bin Mohd Hidir - DAR AW139 from Weststar Aviation Services Sdn Bhd on ‘The Role of The State Register Aircraft Operator (SRAO) as a Configuration Item (CI) Manager VS CAMO’.

The second day of the conference starts with presentations on ‘Duties, Functions and Roles of Design Acceptance Representative (DAR) in Aircraft Configuration Management and Control’ by Lt Col Mohamad Azizi bin Abdul Aziz RMAF - SO1 Sis-Gp A and ‘Functions, Roles and Involvement of CAESE as an AEO in the National Defence Industry’ by Lt Col Ir. Dr. Md Fuad Shah bin Koslan RMAF - Head of Aerodynamic Branch CAESE.
 
Both presentations were based on the case study of Maintenance Development for Su-30MKM 10 years Overhaul.

After the lunch break, the conference continued with a presentation from Maj Ahmad Hamizi bin Ahmad Kamal RMAF -  Head of Structure Flight CAESE on ‘PC-7 Mk II Structural Corrosion: Risk, Challenges and Mitigation'.

Followed by presentation and discussion sessions stressing the topic ‘Airworthiness Review in Continuing Airworthiness Management (TAO-M) and A Comparison with Current Practice’ by Lt Col Ir Rengiah Sinnathamby RMAF - SO1 ASDR DGTA.

MSTA 17/2022 conference reached its pinnacle with the Closing Address by Deputy Chief of Air Force, Lt Gen Dato' Indera Haji Muhamad Norazlan bin Aris RMAF.

In conclusion, the MSTA 17/2022 conference has achieved the objective of strengthening the mutual understanding and cooperation between DGTA and participants in dignifying the Management of State Technical Airworthiness in Malaysia.
