DGTA had recently concluded a certification meeting for MPA P-72M RMAF with its Italian counterpart, the Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness (DAAA) at DAAA headquarters in Rome, Italy. 

 

The meeting was also attended by representatives from Leonardo Aircraft Division (LAD) to discuss the Certification Roadmap related to the recent procurement of RMAF Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) from LAD.

 

The meeting achieved a common agreement between DGTA, DAAA and LAD on Airworthiness Certification by ensuring DAAA and LAD understand DGTA’s airworthiness regulatory requirement. On the other hand, DGTA was also able to comprehend the DAAA airworthiness regulation which will be used to certify MPA P-72M RMAF.  Through the presentation by DGTA, DAAA and also LAD on various matters related to the certification, all attended were able to understand the unique requirement of airworthiness regulation of DGTA and DAAA.

 

As certification activity comprises many stages or phases, the meeting able to identify parties responsible for each phase. In some phases where documents need to be sighted by DGTA before approval of DAAA, this meeting ensured the identification of the relevant process which is expected to lead to a seamless validation audit to be conducted by DGTA which is expected to take place in June 2026.

 

During this meeting, DGTA, upon realising the importance of establishing recognition with Italian DAAA, presented its view on bilateral airworthiness recognition, highlighting among others the importance of accessing continuing airworthiness data on MPA P-72M from DAAA. DGTA’s view was well received, both DGTA and DAAA are expected to follow up on this aspect soon.
